An educated online gamer has a better chance of winning - know what's what in the online gaming world.

As with almost any facet of life, so it is in the online gaming world:  Knowledge is Power.

So when you are out there checking out the seemingly unlimited offers available to you, knowing what you're reading is important.  In the online gaming world there are a lot of terms in play, some very rigid in meaning and some a little more flexible as to what they actually mean. In this article the difference between VIP Clubs and Comp Points will be briefly explained.

VIP Clubs

Google the definition of VIP Club and you'll find this: "A loyalty program operated by some casinos that provide additional extras. The posh name for Players Club."

Dig a bit deeper and you'll soon see that VIP Clubs are abundant, offered by most respectable (and not so) online gaming virtual casinos.  Simply put, if you join a casino - and meet certain monetary requests - you will either receive an option to, or be invited into, their VIP Club.

And while each online gaming casino's VIP Club may differ in certain aspects, the purpose of this VIP Club is to give you, the player, a higher level of service and online gaming opportunities not available to non-VIP members.  Examples of "extras" run the gamut of Opt-In Contests, Second Chance drawings, an assortment of various prizes, etc.

As always, check on site for specific details as they are often changing.

Comp Points

Comp points is short for Compensation Points.  For example, bet365 Casino, one of the most respected and well known of all online gaming casinos, states that "..as soon as you join the Casino at bet365 and start playing any of our extensive range of games in real mode you will earn 'Comp Points' for every bet you make, win or lose."

Comp points can usually be exchanged for cash, prizes, or other comps. The amount of cash given per wager is usually very small and often varies with game selection.  As an example a casino could offer three comp points for each $10 wagered on slots and one comp point for each $10 wagered on a different game, say blackjack.

The casino might give $1 for each 100 comp points. This example is equivalent to returning 0.3% of wagers on slots and 0.1% of wagers on blackjack. In addition online casinos may offer comps such as free tickets to online gaming tournament, tickets to other special events, extra bonuses, souvenirs and pay back.

Comps are commonly available at land-based casinos, but also exist online. Comp points can usually be exchanged for cash, prizes, or other comps.

In addition, every time you play you could earn Comp Points, which, at many online casinos, help you to climb the ladder to VIP status thus creating a perfect marriage of online gaming fun and opportunity.
