Online Gambling for Atlantic Canadians

Atlantic Canada region has 2000 online gambling sites already operating.
By | Nov 26, 2009

The Atlantic Lottery Corporation is considering a deal with Loto-Quebec that will offer online gambling services to Canadians in Atlantic Canada. The intention was reported here earlier this month.

There are about 2,000 online gambling sites already operating in Atlantic Canada. The income the government is losing out on is about $50 million, a Canadian report says.

Even while online gambling is unregulated, the industry has grown an average of 30% a year in recent years.

For both these reasons, the government, it seems, is willing to give Canadians what they want and draw large revenue from the move. Lottery spokesperson Tracy Kenney said the company is considering the pros and cons of a partnership that will bring online poker and possibly online casinos to Atlantic Canadians.

In August, betting limits were raised by the lottery.
